Printing Started!

I printed 20 copies of the first 5 sheets of paper (20 A5 pages x 20) today. The intended cover paper got a bit bent, so I have that underneath a weight to hopefully flatten it.

I promised the PDF in November 2025 and the physical zine on Valentine's Day 2026. I missed both deadlines, but I'm really, really close!

The Bluesky embeds are broken because I closed my account back in 2025.

A small part of the struggle has been printer and software issues. My printer keeps disappearing - I'm not at the final print stage, but when I want to test a page, sometimes it takes 30 minutes to hours to figure out what the issue is.

Also, I just installed the latest version of Scribus because ver. 1.6.4 has been crashing regularly. Usually I don't lose much, if anything, as Scribus does a good job of saving when it crashes, but it about stops my heart every time.

The Final Countdown!

So, I want to have the zine finished by the end of the month (October 2023). That means I aim to have the PDF out by the first week of November, with the physical zines going out by the 31st of November.

I have bought fancy paper for the cover and for the insides, but my printer is a limiting factor.

Step 1 is to finish the layout.
Step 2 is to print. If I cannot get a decent print on my home printer, I will head to my local print shop.
Step 3 is to bind. The plan up until now has been to hand stitch the zines. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

As it stands today the zine is just under 20 pages. Some of the images already in the document need to be rescanned or replaced, but I want to finish writing before I replace low-res images.

PERHAPS I will put a WIP zine on the Itch.io page this time next week, and update that file weekly. Maybe I can do a poll to effect next Sunday.
